Friday 16, January 2004
Each play that theatre person Lushin Dubey has done, has sequentially given birth to an other. After Untitled – a sole production about the plight of women in a male dominated society – her latest solo venture Bitter Chocolate Based on Pinki Virani’s book of the same name, deals with the trauma of sexually-abused children. " It’s high time people are jolted out of their stupor and made to realise that the subject being dealt with here is more than just a figment of someone’s imagination," says Lushin about the performance that opens today. "I hope to bring about a certain level of awareness with this performance," she adds.
As the years have rolled by, Lushin has grown both as a person as well as a professional – her work dealing with one serious is sue after another. " I believe that work is defined by age. Today, I am asking questions that I have never asked before. I am exploring horizons that I didn’t know existed earlier. There is a fire within me that is strong and bright," she explains. "For a theater person, the manch is the medium. And I am making the most of his medium to share with my audience the questions whose answers I seek, " she reveals.
So now, the stage is set for Lushin Dubey.
